Tim Farron MP recently attended a meeting of the Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres (AHOEC) at Patterdale Hall in the Lake District where Head of Carlton Lodge Activity Centre, George Plant with 19 member colleagues, heard Mr Farron’s plans to share the movement’s work through a bill he is progressing in Parliament.
In a social media post Mr Farron said: “Fantastic afternoon meeting with the heads of outdoor education centres from across the country at Patterdale Hall. The wonderful outdoor education these guys provide helps so many young people build a love of the learning and a love of the outdoors. These lifechanging experiences should be available to all children - that's why I have a bill going through Parliament for outdoor learning to go on the school curriculum.”
Mr Farron chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Outdoor Learning and is organising an event in Parliament on Tuesday 1st April at 2pm where members will discuss the initiative.
George Plant said: “It was really encouraging to hear Mr Farron’s support for our sector and recognition of the valuable work we carry out every day giving young people opportunities to develop and grow through their experiences in our activity centres just like our own here at Carlton Lodge.”
